Integrating with D2L

This article outlines steps to configure Honor Education Production integration in D2L.

As a D2L admin, click on the gear icon to open Admin Tools → Manage Extensibility.

Click on the LTI Advantage tab.

Click on Register Tool button and select Standard Registration.

In Extensions section, select Names and Role Provisioning Services.

In Roles section, select Send Institution Role.

Click Register.

A window with Brightspace Registration Details will appear.

Copy the values and provide them to Honor Education before proceeding with the next step.

You must provide:

• Client ID

• Brightspace Keyset URL

• Brightspace OAuth2 Access Token URL

• OpenID Connect Authentication Endpoint

• Brightspace OAuth2 Audience

• Issuer

to Honor Education.

Create Deployment and LTI Link

As an admin, visit Admin Tools → Manage Extensibility → LTI Advantage tab.

Click on Honor Education Production link in the list of registrations.

Scroll to the bottom and click View Deployments.

Click New Deployment button.

Select Honor Education Production from the Tool list.

Enter Honor Education Production as the Name.

In Extensions section, Names and Role Provisioning Services should already be selected.

In Security Settings section, select the following options:

• Org Unit Information

• User Information (should automatically check all nested options)

• Classlist including users not known to this deployment

In Configuration Settings, select Open as External Resource.

Finally, use the Add Org Units button to select departments, course offerings, etc. for which Honor Education integration should be available.

Click Create Deployment button.

Make note of Deployment ID to provide to Honor Education after performing an initial LTI launch.

Click View Links link in the modal window.

Click New Link button.

Enter Honor Education in the Title field.

Paste https://lti.honor.education/v1p3/redirect into URL field.

Click Save and Close button.

Perform LTI Launch

In a test course, click the Content tab and create a test module.

From Existing Activities list select External Learning Tools.

In the list of LTI links, click on Honor Education to add the link to the module.

Click on the link to perform an initial LTI launch to Honor Education.

You may see an error about access. This is expected.

After performing the initial LTI launch, provide Deployment ID to Honor Education to complete the LTI integration setup.
