Exercises add interactivity to your course by prompting Learners to engage.
There are four types of Exercise: Short Answer, Quick Poll, File Upload, and Knowledge Check.
To add a new Exercise to your Topic, click the + button in the top-right corner and select your Exercise type.
For Short Answer and File Upload Exercises, simply give your Exercise a title and write out the prompt for your learners to respond to. When you are finished setting up your Exercise, click Save in the lower right corner.
For Quick Polls and Knowledge Checks, specify your answer choices.
Quick Polls are for taking your learners’ temperature on a question - there is no “correct” answer to a Quick Poll.
Knowledge Checks do have correct answers. Learners answer the Knowledge Check, and are immediately informed whether they’ve gotten the answer correct. So when editing a Knowledge Check, you must specify one or more correct answers.
You should also note that Knowledge Checks are currently a beta feature. This means the following:
- If you can’t find the Knowledge Check option in Create, it may not be turned on for your institution. You can reach out to support@honor.education to address this.
- While the Learner experience of Knowledge Checks is fully functional, the Instructor has no visibility into Learner responses or activity with Knowledge Checks.
Shared Exercises
Quick Polls, Short Answers, and File Uploads all have Shared Exercise functionality. In a Shared Exercise, learners can view each other’s responses after they submit their own. When you’re creating any of these three Exercise types, check the box marked Display Responses to make it a Shared Exercise.
Viewing Learner Responses
As your learners are working through the Exercises in your course, you can check back at any time for a detailed breakdown of their submissions. Open up the Exercise, and navigate to the right-hand Activity sidebar to see their activity. Open up the Exercise Responses panel to view their submissions.
You can also download all of the Exercise responses in your course to a CSV file. Navigate to the course homepage. In the bottom-right corner of the sidebar, find the download labelled Exercise Responses.
